I have three more weeks until I have to report back to work. Actually, I am hoping it is more like two weeks. They usually let us in early to work on our classrooms but last year and this year there has been construction so it isn’t looking too great. I have so many projects here at home that I keep jumping around to and from that I need to get done before I head back. I am entering the freak out mode of “Holy ba-jesus I only have a couple weeks!!!” I am going to share one thing on my list that I finished a few weeks ago. And though it isn’t teaching specific, I am really excited about it! Before last year had even ended I was dead set on buying a rocking chair. Y’all, rocking chairs are EXPENSIVE. Luckily I found a decent one on Craigslist for $30!!!!! I had to sand it down and prime it because it was left outside by its previous owner. It’s amazing what a little spray paint can do.
I am so excited to get this into my classroom! I just had a tiny little brown chair to sit on before. There is something so relaxing and fun about a rocking chair!!!!
I'm glad you finally found your chair! It will be super cute in a kinder room! I'm seriously stressing about my classroom too. We were supposed to be able to get in tomorrow, but now we're getting the run around again. I was told I can maybe get in next week. :/ I hope you get more than 2 days to put your room together this year! Does your principal make you take everything off the walls and put away or take home all personal items?
Oh gosh I hope you get into your room soon! I just got word that we can't get in until the 19th. That means we will only have one day to set up and prepare… AHH!
Yes our principal last year made us take EVERYTHING down and we had to bring everything home with us. My guest room is PACKED to the brim with teaching stuff! We are getting a new principal this year, I don't know if her summer pack up will be the same.
I have been working hard to be as prepared as I can from home. I have a feeling I will be stressing big time!
Oh man! That's crazy! Good luck getting everything setup in time! That's good that you're able to prepare some things at home. I wish all principals let us leave our stuff where it is. It's important to declutter and make sure everything is nice and neat, but taking everything home is a little extreme. We would have more time to prepare for lessons and organize if we didn't have to set up our rooms all over again every year.
