I don’t miss…
I won’t lie, I still have my moments of missing teaching. Like I have said before though, last year there were so many times where I thought to myself “Ugh, I can’t wait to not have to deal with this anymore.” On the tough days I try to remind myself of these things. And to be honest, the “I want to teach” bug is getting easier and easier to deal with all because I don’t miss any of these things. 1. Last minute district changes. Every. Darn. Year. There is always huge changes to either curriculum or our everyday way of tackling tasks and we find out about it last minute. We have begged each year to have them let us know these changes at the end of the ... Read More
Surviving the first week of school
I mention kindergarten a lot in this post because obviously it is what I taught, but some of these tips could be helpful in any grade level. The first week three weeks are no joke. Tell Us Tuesday
So I am a tad late jumping into this week’s link up party with all these great teachers, but better late than never! I love link ups! They are such a great way to meet new people and I love reading about other teachers as well! This link up is hosted by the great gals at Freebielicious. My name is Ashley Wright and for the past five years I have been a kindergarten teacher in Texas. This year will be a big change because I have resigned to stay at home with the newest addition to our family. I am the luckiest mommy because this little cutie is all mine: This is Lacey and excuse me when I say she is absolutely perfect. She was born on ... Read More
A Super Science Sale!
Like most districts, we are all given some non-negotiables that ALL schools must follow. One that we have had for a while is all elementary schools must be teaching the same thing at the same time. So we have a team go in and create a detailed YAG that we all must follow together (I am NOT a fan). Each year they seem to add something new. Well, a couple of years ago we were given the directive that every grade level must have an interactive notebook in each core subject. This was a change that us kinder teachers freaked out over. Instead of having a summer to think it through and get our creative juices flowing to make this possible for FIVE YEAR ... Read More
